The “rescue” figure 8 has ears which are designed to prevent the rope from slipping up to the top and forming a girth hitch which can strand the rappeller until they can remove their weight from the device. Made in the U.S.A

    After using numerous figure 8’s in the past, I really liked this one. The rope seemed to easily glide through and allowed the proper lock off techniques as well as tying it off for safety. For not being NFPA rated, it does meet the requirements. Regardless I will gladly trust my life to this product.
