Frequently used to climb rope, as a pulling handle or as self belay on fixed rope. Newly re-designed left (black) and right (gold) handled models. All black model also available. Hand grip insulates in cold conditions and is big enough to accept a bulky glove. Lower carabiner attachment hole is rated at 4,496 lbf. (20 kN). Weight 7 oz. (198 g) each. Made in France.

The "rescue" figure 8 has ears which are designed to prevent the rope from slipping up to the top and forming a girth hitch which can strand the rappeller until they can remove their weight from the device. The Russ Anderson/SMC figure 8 with ears is one of the most popular full-sized descenders used by professionals throughout the rescue, fire service and police/tactical markets. Machined from 1/2" (12.5 mm) thick, solid aluminum heat treated bar and then finished with a very tough, hard anodized finish in either black or gray. The carabiner hole functions effectively as a sticht plate for 1/2" (12.5 mm) rope, although this configuration does not provide sufficient friction when used with smaller diameter rope. NFPA Certified to 1983-06. Weight 6.5 oz. (190 g). MBS 7,194 lbf.(32 kN). Made in the U.S.A.

For long descents on single rope. Can be installed on the rope without disconnecting it from the harness thanks to the clip. Self braking system brakes as soon as the handle is released. Control the speed of descent by varying the grip on the free end of the rope. Rope ascending is possible without changing the position of the STOP by adding a footloop and a handled rope clamp/grab. Self-braking descender with anti-panic function for working on fixed ropes. Designed for work on a rope: the gate on the swinging side plate helps prevent dropping the device. Multi-functional handle allows the user to:
- unblock the rope and control the descent with the hand on the braking side of the rope
- move more easily on horizontal or low-angle terrain thanks to the button on the handle
- to position himself while on the rope
Anti-panic function is engaged if the user pulls too hard on the handle: the pivoting cam is released and automatically brakes to stop the descent. Anti-error safety cam to reduce the risk of an accident due to incorrect installation of the device on the rope. The shape of the cam is designed to improve rope glide during an ascent.
Pivoting cam makes it easier to take up the slack in the rope. Can also be used to make a reversible haul system, and for short ascents (in conjunction with a FOOTPRO footloop and an ASCENSION handled rope clamp). For ropes between 10 and 11.5 mm in diameter.
